Lester and Finster, 2 Underclassmen break 1000 pts for NRCA Varsity Knights

With school ball in full swing, we are beginning to see who is who among the standouts in the 2018-19 season. Here in North Carolina, Millbrook HS has established a dominate lead at the top of the boys rankings (17-0). For the ladies, Ragsdale and Heritage are battling out for the top of 4A women's rankings.

In the midst of the ladies competition, #1 ranked NRCA (13-3) in the 4A NCISAA conference (private schools), we found a great story on 2 young ladies that last night received recognition as a 9th grader and a 10th grader for hitting the 1,000 point mark for their varsity team. Imani Lester (daughter of head coach and former Wolfpack all star, Avie Lester) and Emma Finster are leading their team in scoring. Both of these players have played on the varsity team since 7th grade and are now really hitting their stride.

So far this season, these young ladies are averaging 26ppg and 24ppg, respectively. Imani at 6'3" with a great athletic frame and high IQ promises to be a D1 recruit as she has developed a great "inside-out" mindset and can score at the rim as well as with a nice jumper. Emma at 5'7" is likely one of the purest women's shooters the game has ever had. As a freshmen, she averaged 49% from behind the arc on her travel team over an amazing 106 games played. Now, as sophomore, Emma has elevated her accuracy now tracking around 55% from behind the arc thru 16 games on her NRCA HS team. Her instincts as a player allow her to find shots in tight spaces as well as get to the rack if defenders try to face guard her.

Congrats to these 2 young ladies as they have an opportunity to ultimately stand on a stage that only a very few ladies HS players ever obtain. At their current pace, it is possible for them to each obtain the 2,000 pt achievement level which rivals most McDonalds HS All-Americans scoring achievements.
