Elle Sutphin: N.C. State Basketball Commit Gives Advice
Elle Sutphin’s life certainly would not rate as a tragedy but she has not had an easy path to greatness within the the girl’s basketball scene. She has earned her spot among the great players in the North Carolina area and has a college commitment to show for her hard work and sacrifices.
Sutphin, who plays AAU ball with Winston-Salem Stealers and will start her junior season East Surry High School with high hopes, has committed to N.C. State to play basketball under Wes Moore -- the long-time coach who will enter his 30th season as a head coach and sixth with the Wolfpack in 2018-19.
The path has not been easy for Sutphin. She has had to overcome injuries and the struggles that come with aspiring for greatness. Often when there are things going on in her hometown of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, she makes the sacrifice by using the bulk of her spare time towards working on fundamentals in the gym.
It is not an easy life at times, but it does have its fun. Sutphin is one of the precious few in a field of thousands who will achieve the goal of playing ball at a D1 college.
She has a powerful message for those who want to follow in her footsteps, and she was willing to take some time from her rigorous and regimented lifestyle to speak with Elite Hoop Report to discuss her hopes for the summer and beyond, her thrill at committing to N.C. State, her advice to young girls and much more.
